Great Ways to Save Money for Your Summer Break

Whether you’ve already booked or are still searching for the perfect getaway, a summer holiday can be expensive. As well as the flights and accommodation, you must also think about passports, summer clothes, toiletries, and spending money at the very least. This can quite quickly add up to a small fortune. To make sure you’ve got enough extra cash to have the perfect break without worrying, here are some great ways to save for your holiday.
Open a Savings Account
Opening a savings account is a great idea when you’re trying to save money for two reasons. Firstly, you could get a much better interest rate, especially if you make regular credits and don’t plan on taking any money out for a while. Secondly, because you are much less likely to spend the money if it’s in a separate account. Now, with so much banking done online, it’s easier than ever to switch money between accounts.
Save Loose Change
Have a pot at home and save anything less than a £1 coin. If possible get a money box that can’t be opened until you are ready to take all the money out, so you’re less likely to dip into it for change for parking or the bus. If you want to save more digitally, try an app that does the same kind of thing.
Swap Nights Out for Nights in
Nights out are great. But, they can be expensive. Have nights in with your friends or partner instead. You can still make them special by cooking a nice meal and getting some drinks. There is plenty you can do to have a great night in, but some great ideas include watching a movie or box set, cooking together, playing games, or laughing about the election campaign with a game of Ladbrokes Snap Election Bingo.
Make Extra Cash Online
There are absolutely loads of ways to make extra cash online. Even if you are already working full-time, you could easily do some of these as well. Some of the best include:
Taking surveys
Product testing
Reviewing music or websites
Testing web pages
Selling your old stuff
Selling your crafts
Answering questions
Blogging
Advertising on social media
Cut Your Food Bill
Food is one of the best ways to save money. Start writing meal plans and shopping lists for the week ahead, so you only buy what you need, and then try cooking in bulk and freezing any leftovers. Other ways to save on food include having a meat-free day, shopping in reduced sections, and trying supermarket own products instead of brand names.
Make Cutbacks
After food, there are many other ways to save money. Some of these include cancelling any unused memberships, walking instead of driving, buying things second-hand, changing your utility providers and cutting down contracts so you’re only paying for what you need.
Saving money doesn’t have to mean you miss out. Focus on making a few small changes and saving little bits whenever you can. You’ll soon find you’ve got quite a chunk of money in your savings and you haven’t missed out on anything you wanted to do.
